Product Information
- ethyl N-benzoylglycinate
Ethyl 2-(phenylformamido)acetate is an antihypertensive drug that may be synthesized from l-glutamic acid and a hydrocarbon group. It inhibits the enzyme phosphoribosylpyrophosphate amidotransferase, which is involved in the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. This inhibition reduces the production of adenine, which leads to decreased levels of uric acid and hippuric acid. The reaction time for this drug is about 20 minutes. Ethyl 2-(phenylformamido)acetate is an ester hydrochloride that can be prepared by reacting phosphorus oxychloride with an ethyl ester of phenol and formamide. The product binds to chloride ions, hydroxamic acids, or nucleophilic attack by chloride ions on phosphorus oxychloride to form a phosphonium ion. This ion reacts with a second molecule of phosphate to give the desired product and hydrochloric
