Triphenylethoxysilane is a reactive compound that can be used as a solid catalyst in chemical reactions. This is due to its ability to bind with metal surfaces and react with the substrate film, forming an amorphous layer of silica on the metal surface. Triphenylethoxysilane has a phase transition temperature of -60°C, which limits its use in high-temperature reactions. The thermal expansion coefficient of triphenylethoxysilane is 3x10-4 K-1, which makes it a good dielectric material for high-voltage insulation. It also has a crystalline structure that changes from orthorhombic to tetragonal at room temperature. Triphenylethoxysilane has been shown to be an effective catalyst for Zirconium oxide (ZrO2) at low temperatures and hydrochloric acid (HCl) at higher temperatures.
