Product Information

Name:
1,4-Dibutylbenzene
Synonyms:
  • Benzene, 1,4-dibutyl-
  • Benzene, p-dibutyl-
  • p-Dibutylbenzene
Description:

1,4-Dibutylbenzene is a colorless liquid that is insoluble in water. It has a molecular weight of 78.11 g/mol and a melting point of -150 °C. 1,4-Dibutylbenzene can be used to produce surfactants, which are compounds that lower the surface tension of a liquid by adsorbing at the liquid's interface with another substance. 1,4-Dibutylbenzene is also used as an additive in fuels to reduce the formation of ozone during combustion. The chemical may be oxidized electrochemically to form dimers or anhydrous benzene.
1,4-Dibutylbenzene can be determined by regression analysis using stepwise linear regression and eigenvalue validation methods.
