1-(6-Bromonaphthalen-2-yl)ethanone is an l-anap, which is a type of carbamate. It is used in the manufacture of dyes and pigments. It can be synthesized by reacting potassium carbonate with 2-bromoacetophenone in the presence of chloroform and nitrobenzene. The product 1-(6-bromonaphthalen-2-yl)ethanone can be acetylated with acetic anhydride in the presence of perrier to produce 6-bromoacetophenone. This reaction can also be catalyzed using tert-butylperoxycarbonate. The product can then be reacted with toluene, disulphide, and ligand to produce l-anap.
