Product Information
4-(2,4-Dinitrobenzyl)pyridine (4DNBP) is a heterocyclic compound that undergoes photochromism in the presence of ultraviolet light. 4DNBP is a proton donor and an electron acceptor, which means it can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. When irradiated with UV light, 4DNBP will absorb photons, causing it to become positively charged. This leads to the formation of intermolecular hydrogen bonds with anions such as sulfoxide and centroid.
4DNBP has been shown to have kinetic transients on hexane at different temperatures and was also shown to be able to form heterodimers with acetonitrile. The constant value for the heterodimerization constant is 0.04±0.01 kcal/mol.
