- 3,4-Diphenyl-1H-pyrrole
3,4-Diphenyl-pyrrole is a synthetic porphyrin that is used as a precursor to the synthesis of other porphyrins. This molecule has trigonal planar geometry and is crystalline with a melting point of about 190 degrees Celsius. It can be synthesized using the technique of dimethylation and reduction of 3,4-dihydrophenylalanine. 3,4-Diphenyl-pyrrole can also be obtained by the reaction of 2,3-dichlorobenzene with sodium ethoxide in a solvent such as ethanol or methanol.
