3-Phenylquinoline is an amide that is synthesized via the radical mechanism. The chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CI-MS) of 3-phenylquinoline has been studied extensively and shows a bond cleavage reaction system with azides, phenylpropanoids, chalcones, and halides. It has also been shown to have estrogenic activity in pharmacological tests. 3-Phenylquinoline can be synthesized through cross-coupling reactions of alkyl halides with azides or by the oxidation of chalcones with sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid.
