1H-Indole-2-carboxamide is a pharmacological agent that belongs to the group of amides. It has antiviral potency and is used to treat autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus and Crohn's disease. The 1H-indole-2-carboxamide inhibits the replication of DNA by binding to complementary strands of DNA in the presence of hydrogen bonds. 1H-Indole-2-carboxamide also inhibits fatty acid synthesis by inhibiting acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase activity. This drug is also used for the treatment of cancer. The mechanism is not known.
