Product Information
- Heptane-2,5-Dione
Heptane-2,5-dione is a metabolite of n-hexane that is found in the urine of humans and animals. It is formed from the hydrolysis of heptanal by aromatic amine oxidase. The presence of heptane-2,5-dione has been correlated with chronic exposure to hexanes, which can lead to axonopathy. This metabolite also has the ability to bind primary amines and form adducts with proteins. Heptane-2,5-dione can be detected in high concentrations using an hplc analysis on a polyacrylamide gel.
