2-(1,3-Dioxolan-2-yl)furan is an ethylene acetal that can be industrially synthesized from dimethyl fumarate. It has been found to be an optimal reaction partner in the catalysis of a variety of organic reactions. 2-(1,3-Dioxolan-2-yl)furan has a wide range of functional groups and can be used in a variety of reactions that require bond cleavage or the formation of new bonds.
