Product Information
4-Nitro-benzylamino-acetic acid (NBA) is a synthetic chemical that can be used as a fluorescent probe to study the function of proteins. It has been shown to bind to an amide bond, which has not been shown for other fluorescent probes. NBA binds specifically to mammalian cells and cleaves the amide bond in glyoxylate, which is involved in the TCA cycle. This chemical also has bifunctional enzyme activity and is used as a model system. The catalytic domains of NBA have been shown to work in both cytosolic and mitochondrial environments.
