Diisobutyl aluminum chloride is a reactive agent that has been used as a catalyst in polymerization reactions. It has also been used to inhibit the activity of antimicrobial peptides. Diisobutyl aluminum chloride has shown chemical stability and biological sample compatibility in vitro. This compound may interact with cellular components by altering their function, such as by inhibiting cation channels or ATP-dependent channels. The reactivity of diisobutyl aluminum chloride also makes it an effective antifungal agent in vitro.
