Description:

n-Octylcyclohexane is a model compound that belongs to the class of polycarboxylic acids. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a low viscosity and a high boiling point. n-Octylcyclohexane has been shown to react with cyclohexane ring and form an exothermic reaction. This reaction produces a variety of products, including cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone, acetophenone, and phenylacetone. The hydrolysis of this product can produce fatty acids such as octanoic acid or octadecanoic acid. n-Octylcyclohexane also reacts with fatty acids to form aromatic hydrocarbons like octadecene or hexadecene. It reacts with hydroxyl groups in the presence of heat to form compounds such as 2-octanol or 2-octanone.
