Product Information
3-Bromo-4-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzonitrile is a chlorophyll fluorescence quencher. It inhibits the activity of photosynthetic electron transport, thus inhibiting the formation of ATP and other high energy compounds. 3-Bromo-4-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzonitrile has been shown to be nonselective to carotenoids, which may be due to its ability to inhibit electron transport in both photosystems I and II. 3-Bromo-4-hydroxy 5 nitrobenzonitrile also has a physiological effect on Phaseolus leaves, decreasing the rate of evolution and frequency of chlorophyll fluorescence.
