Description:

4- (2-phenylethynyl)phenol is a trichloride that reacts with aryl iodides to form acetylides. It is used in the synthesis of polymers, copper halogen compounds, and bifunctional compounds. 4-(2-Phenylethynyl)phenol reacts with allyl bromide in dimethylformamide to form a mixture of allyl phenoxyacetate and allyl phenoxyacetic acid. This reaction can be used to synthesize various polymers and other organic substances. 4-(2-Phenylethynyl)phenol also reacts with phosphorus pentachloride and bromine to produce phosphorus oxychloride, which is used for the production of pesticides.
