Product Information
1-Nitro-4-(phenylethynyl)benzene (NPEB) is an organometallic compound that has been used as a catalyst for the hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes. The NPEB molecule contains a catalytic carboxylic moiety, which enhances its ability to catalyze the hydrogenation of alkenes. The use of NPEB as a catalyst has been shown to produce high yields on the order of 99%. It also has a high rate of conversion to the desired product, up to 98%. This reaction is catalysed by 1-nitro-4-(phenylethynyl)benzene and is likely due to its ability to act as an electron donor.
1-Nitro-4-(phenylethynyl)benzene can be used in theory for intermetallic reactions. In addition, it can be used in functional theory for catalysts.
