Product Information
3,5-Diiodo-4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid (3,5-DHPAA) is an aniline derivative that has been shown to be a substrate for monoiodotyrosine. The synthesis of 3,5-DHPAA was accomplished by solubilizing the compound in a mixture of acetonitrile and water at pH 6.0. The uptake of 3,5-DHPAA by tissues was determined using ultraviolet spectroscopy. This compound can be activated with ultraviolet light and recrystallized from chloroform/petroleum ether. Reaction mechanisms for the synthesis of 3,5-DHPAA have been studied and found to involve diiodination.
