Methyl 3,5-diaminobenzenecarboxylate is a lectin that binds to phosphite and trisaccharide. It has transport properties, which can be seen in its ability to bind to subunits of carbohydrates. Methyl 3,5-diaminobenzenecarboxylate can activate lectins by forming amide bonds with the amino group of the lectins. When this binding takes place, the turbidimetric response is increased. This compound can also solubilise proteins by forming hydrogen bonding interactions with functional groups on proteins.
