2,3,5-Trichloro-pyridin-4-ol is a chemical compound that is an effective dose for the treatment of animals infected with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-producing bacteria. It is also known to decrease picolinic acid levels and increase ATP levels in plants. In animal cells, 2,3,5-trichloro-pyridin-4-ol has been shown to inhibit the membrane system of mitochondria and fatty acid synthesis in kidney bean. It also inhibits the dinucleotide phosphate enzyme system in chloroplasts and inhibits membrane transport systems in mitochondria.
2,3,5-Trichloro-pyridin-4-ol has been observed to have a negative effect on chloroplast structure and function by inhibiting photosynthesis.
