- 5-Thiazolemethanol, 4-Methyl-
4-Methylthiazol-5-yl)methanol is a synthetic reducer that has been shown to have antibacterial properties. It is used in the postprocessing of chronic bronchitis and has been shown to reduce exacerbations. 4-Methylthiazol-5-yl)methanol is also an oxidising agent, which can be used in the treatment of acute bronchitis. 4-Methylthiazol-5-yl)methanol reacts with chloride ions and organic substances to form a chloride salt and an organic substance. This reaction yield depends on the concentration of chloride ions present, as well as the concentration of organic solvent. The product is then hydrolysed by pgf2α to form a fatty acid. 4-Methylthiazol-5-yl)methanol is also involved in oxidative stress responses and mediates inflammatory responses through its ability to inhibit phosphodiesterase activity.
