Product Information
Ethyl 5-bromo-3-[(ethoxycarbonyl)amino]-1-benzofuran-2-carboxylate is a regulatory agent that acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme formate dehydrogenase. It has been shown to have antitubercular activity in mice and is used to treat tuberculosis. Ethyl 5-bromo-3-[(ethoxycarbonyl)amino]-1-benzofuran-2-carboxylate can be activated by nitrate, which leads to increased antitubercular activity in both mice and guinea pigs. This compound also inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium in culture and is resistant to formate dehydrogenase, which may be due to its amide group.
