Product Information
- Benzeneacetic Acid, 2-Chloro-Alpha-Oxo-
2-Chlorophenyl-oxoacetic acid (CLOAA) is a chemical intermediate that is used in the synthesis of clopidogrel, an antiplatelet drug. CLOAA is synthesized by reductive amination of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde and acetyl chloride. The 2-chlorobenzaldehyde is produced by pyridine oxidation. This chemical intermediate reacts with the thienopyridine to form a key intermediate for the synthesis of clopidogrel. The fluorescence spectrum of this compound has been found to be acidic, which may be due to the presence of an aliphatic group. This compound undergoes deamination, yielding ammonia and 2-chlorobenzaldehyde.
