Chlorotris(triphenylphosphine)cobalt(I) is an organometallic compound that has been synthesized in the laboratory. It is a colorless solid with a melting point of about 200°C. Chlorotris(triphenylphosphine)cobalt(I) is used as a catalyst in the synthesis of geranyl compounds from bromohydrins, and also as an estrogen receptor modulator. This compound can be obtained by reacting chloroform with cobaltacyclopentadiene, followed by reaction with acetonitrile or acyl halides such as chloride or iodide.
