Product Information
- Quinuclidin-4-Ol
Quinuclidin-4-ol is a muscarinic receptor antagonist that has long-acting effects. It binds to muscarinic receptors and blocks the effects of acetylcholine on the central nervous system. Quinuclidin-4-ol was shown to reduce salivation in rats by acting as an antagonist at M1, M2, and M3 receptors. The onset of quinuclidin-4-ol is much slower than other muscarinic antagonists such as atropine, with a half life of 2 hours. Quinuclidin-4-ol is not a direct bronchoconstrictor but can cause bronchoconstriction through its effect on the parasympathetic nervous system. This drug also reduces airway resistance by inhibiting cholinergic activity in the lungs. Quinuclidin-4-ol has been studied for its potential use in treating Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia because it acts as a long-acting muscar
