Description

S,S-Dibenzyltrithiocarbonate is a cross-linking agent that has been used in magnetic resonance experiments to study the effects of hemolytic activity. It has been shown to have reactive functional groups, which allow it to react with nucleophiles such as hydroxyl groups, and also with cationic polymers. S,S-Dibenzyltrithiocarbonate can be used to modify polymer surfaces by covalent attachment or by grafting onto the polymer backbone. The reactive functional group is important for controlling the phase transition temperature and morphology of the polymer. This compound is also useful for modification of affinity ligands for applications such as biosensors because it can be easily removed from the ligand after binding to its target molecule.
