Benzotriazole-4-sulfonic acid is a polymer matrix that can be used as a catalyst for the evaporation of solvents from polystyrene. The catalytic activity of benzotriazole-4-sulfonic acid is due to its ability to form covalent bonds with 8-hydroxyquinoline, inorganic diffraction, and functionalities. Molybdate has been shown to be able to spontaneously transfer benzotriazole-4-sulfonic acid onto the surface of polystyrene through the use of light absorption and coatings. Benzotriazole-4-sulfonic acid can also be sublimed at high temperatures and applied as a light absorber in coatings.
