2-N-Butylamino-5-nitropyridine is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. It reacts with diethylamine to form ethylene glycol, which can then be reacted with butylamine to form 2-butylamino-5-nitropyridine. This reaction has a high regioselectivity and yields are high. The nitro group on 2-N-Butylamino-5-nitropyridine can be substituted by ethylene or propylene groups to produce 3,4,5,6,7,-pentahydrobenzo[e]pyrrolo[1,2a]pyrimidin.
