Product Information

Name:
trans-1,3-Cyclohexanediamine
Description:

Trans-1,3-Cyclohexanediamine is a monomer that is used in the production of polymers. It can also be used in the manufacture of sealants and as a co-monomer for the synthesis of polyurethanes. Trans-1,3-Cyclohexanediamine reacts with triethyl orthoformate to give an amine that can be analyzed by microscopy. This compound has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on prostate cancer cells. Trans-1,3-Cyclohexanediamine is also capable of polymerizing into long chains of molecules, which are then analyzed using x-ray diffraction techniques. This polymerization process occurs spontaneously in deionized water or when heated to high temperatures. The resulting polymers may have different properties depending on whether they are made up of cis or trans isomers.
