Product Information
3-Methoxybenzylmagnesium chloride is a halide that binds to the regulatory site of enzymes in a competitive manner. It has been shown to be bioavailable and inhibit the activity of diphenylmethane and phenyl groups. 3-Methoxybenzylmagnesium chloride is used for the treatment of iron homeostasis, bone resorption, and hepcidin. The molecule is an inhibitor of hydroxymethylbilane synthase, which catalyzes the conversion of aminoadipic semialdehyde to hydroxymethylbilane. This inhibition leads to decreased levels of hepcidin, an important regulator of iron metabolism. 3-Methoxybenzylmagnesium chloride also inhibits estradiol synthesis by binding with the enzyme 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (17βHSD).
