Description:

Citreoviridin is a natural product that is found in the plant Citrus medica. It inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential and transcriptional regulation, leading to cell death. Citreoviridin has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro. Citreoviridin binds to the mitochondrial membrane and alters its permeability, which leads to a loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, inhibition of protein synthesis, and disruption of transcriptional regulation. Citreoviridin has also been shown to inhibit polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and x-ray diffraction data for DNA binding studies.
