Product Information

Name:
Demethylcephalotaxinone
Description:

Demethylcephalotaxinone is a phenylpropanoid glycoside that can be found in the geniposidic plant, Genipa americana. It has been shown to have anti-cancer properties and has been investigated as a potential treatment for colon cancer. Studies have revealed that demethylcephalotaxinone inhibits cell proliferation by downregulating the expression of genes involved in key pathways of tumor progression such as DNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and cell cycle regulation. Demethylcephalotaxinone also induces apoptosis and decreases angiogenesis. This compound also exhibits anti-inflammatory effects which are mediated by its ability to inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes.
