Description:
2-Phenyl-2H-1,2,3-triazole is an unsaturated ketone that has a functional group of an aromatic hydrocarbon. The synthesis of 2-phenyl-2H-1,2,3-triazole is achieved by the reaction of activated benzene with glyoxal and hydrogen chloride. This product is used in the production of other chemicals such as organic dyes and pharmaceuticals. The photophysical properties of 2-phenyl-2H-1,2,3-triazole are due to its aromatic hydrocarbon moiety. This product can be used as a ligand for metal ions such as copper and zinc. Nucleophilic attack on this molecule occurs at the carbonyl carbon atom. Optimization of this process can be done by adjusting the concentration ratio between reactants.
