Product Information
4-Chloro-6-methyl-2H-chromen-2-one is a synthetic compound that inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and has been shown to be effective in treating Alzheimer's disease. 4-Chloro-6-methyl-2H-chromen-2-one is an aminocoumarin derivative that inhibits AChE by binding to the active site of the enzyme and preventing choline from binding, thereby inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine. The synthesis pathway involves ethylenediamine, benzofuran, and benzopyran. Benzopyran is transformed into an intermediate, which undergoes a coupling reaction with ethylenediamine, followed by hydrolysis of the ester linkages and subsequent cyclization to form 4 chloro 6 methyl 2H chromen 2 one.
