2-[(4-Methoxyphenyl)methyl]oxirane is a genotoxic compound that can form covalent adducts with DNA and other macromolecules. The biological properties of this chemical have been studied in vitro using various assays, including cytotoxicity, mutagenicity, and the induction of aminotransferase activity in human liver cells. 2-[(4-Methoxyphenyl)methyl]oxirane has been shown to induce pancreatic lipase and fatty acid synthase activity in rat pancreatic tissue. This chemical also has a potent antiviral effect due to its ability to inhibit viral replication by interacting with baculovirus proteins.
