Product Information

Name:
Trans-4,4'-azodiphenol-d8
Synonyms:
  • Phenol, 4,4'-(1E)-azobis-
Description:

Trans-4,4'-azodiphenol-d8 is a polyether that has the chemical formula of C22H28O2. It is a monomer in the synthesis of oxetane, which is a polymer with two olefinic groups. Trans-4,4'-azodiphenol-d8 has a conformational structure and can be used to measure evaporation rates in solvents. This compound also has an azobenzene group that reacts with a transfer agent to form an oxetane ring. Trans-4,4'-azodiphenol-d8 is synthesised by heating the corresponding ester for six hours at 250°C and then reacting it with diazomethane gas at room temperature for ten minutes. The high values obtained from this experiment are due to its thermostability and low reactivity with oxygen and light.
