Product Information

Name:
Isononyl acrylate ( of branched chain isomers)
Synonyms:
  • 2-Propenoic acid, isononyl ester
  • 7-Methyloctyl Prop-2-Enoate
Description:

Isononyl acrylate is a silicone-based polymerization initiator. It is a cross-linking agent that can be used in the production of polymers such as polyolefins, polyesters, and epoxy resins. Isononyl acrylate is also used as an additive for petroleum products, such as lubricants and fuels. Isononyl acrylate is synthesized by reacting an alkali metal with glycol esters. The reaction produces the corresponding alcohols and diesters of the acid. These intermediates are then reacted with acrylic acid to produce isononyl acrylate (of branched chain isomers).
