Description:

1-Dehydro-6-gingerdione is a phenolic compound that belongs to the class of tetracycline. It is a potent activator of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α and IL-1β. 1DG also has a hydroxy group, which may produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation in the presence of free radicals. This compound is used orally to treat inflammation in the digestive tract and other organs. 1DG was shown to be effective against pancreatic lipase, an enzyme that breaks down fats, leading to reduced fat absorption by the intestines.
1DG can also inhibit the activity of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) by blocking their binding site in the prostaglandin H synthase enzyme complex, but it does not have any effect on cyclooxygenases or lipoxygenases.
