Product Information
4-(2-Oxoethyl)benzonitrile is a phosphinic acid derivative that inhibits thrombin. It has been shown to inhibit the formation of dipeptide from amino acids and mimics the action of the natural inhibitor, 4-(2-Oxoethyl)benzoylcysteine. This drug has been shown to inhibit thrombin more potently than hirudin, an anticoagulant, and is used as an alternative in patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.
