Product Information
Methyl 2-iodothiophene-3-carboxylate is a monosubstituted compound with a spacer between the two functional groups. It has been shown to be active against the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum, which is resistant to many other anti-malarial drugs. The mechanism of action of methyl 2-iodothiophene-3-carboxylate is not known, but it is believed that it may inhibit cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and/or interfere with protein synthesis.
