Product Information
- Pyridine, 3-(phenylmethoxy)-
3-Benzyloxypyridine is a dihydropyridine that is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other organic compounds. 3-Benzyloxypyridine can be prepared by reacting o-chloranil with magnesium in tetrahydrofuran at 0°C and then adding a solution of benzyl bromide in ether. It can also be prepared by debenzylating 3-benzyloxyacetophenone with hydrogen over palladium on charcoal or platinum oxide and then treating it with cuprous chloride. Grignard reagents are often used to react with 3-benzyloxypyridine.
