Name:
1-Propylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid
Description:

1-Propylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid is a synthetic antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of analogs. This compound has reactive functional groups, which are responsible for its antimicrobial activity. It has been shown that 1-propylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid inhibits collagen synthesis in bacteria and suppresses the growth of mutant strains. This molecule binds to the active site on protein synthesis, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to cell death by apoptosis. 1-Propylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid also may have antiinflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
