Product Information
2,3-Dichloro-1H-indole is an antagonist of the NMDA receptor that inhibits the binding of glutamate to this receptor. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of schizophrenia and other mental disorders. 2,3-Dichloro-1H-indole is metabolized by cytochrome P450 and can be nitrored. Nitro group metabolism leads to formation of a covalent bond with DNA, which may lead to cancer. However, this compound does not have any mutagenic activity. Dichloroindole also binds to aryl groups, such as phenyl and benzyl groups. This property is important for its use as an antihistamine.
