2-Amino-3-benzoyl-α-oxo-benzeneacetic acid sodium salt (2ABB) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is a prodrug of 2-(2'-aminoethoxy)benzoic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the production of nitric oxide and prostaglandin E, which are key mediators of inflammation and pain. 2ABB has also been shown to bind to the nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) binding site on DNA, which inhibits NFκB transcriptional activity. 2ABB has also been shown to induce cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 enzyme activities in vitro.
