2-Fluoro-4-hydroxyphenylboronic acid is a small molecule that binds to the metabotropic glutamate receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of glutamate and other neurotransmitters in the brain. 2-Fluoro-4-hydroxyphenylboronic acid has also been shown to have antidepressant properties and may provide a novel therapeutic approach for treating depression. Pharmacokinetic studies show that it enters the brain easily, and its distribution is not affected by disease state or age. 2-Fluoro-4-hydroxyphenylboronic acid's pharmacokinetic properties make it a good candidate for studying Alzheimer's Disease as well as other neurological disorders.
