DIM-C-pPhCO2Me is a cytotoxic agent that binds to the survivin receptor and inhibits the activation of factor receptors. It blocks epidermal growth factor (EGF) and other growth factors, leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. DIM-C-pPhCO2Me is also able to inhibit the expression of survivin, an antiapoptotic protein that promotes cell survival in response to chemotherapy. This drug has been shown to have anticancer effects on both lung and pancreatic cancer. DIM-C-pPhCO2Me is a potent inhibitor of cell proliferation and induces differentiation in a variety of tumor cells including rhabdomyosarcoma, lung carcinoma, colon carcinoma, leukemia cells, and prostate carcinoma. In addition, this drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of human breast cancer xenografts in mice.
