Product Information

Name:
5-Hydroxy omeprazole sulfone
Description:

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat gastric acid hypersecretion and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Omeprazole is used for short-term treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), such as heartburn and regurgitation. It can be taken either by mouth or as an injection, and the dose may be adjusted according to the patient's weight. The drug should not be used for more than 14 days because it can cause serious side effects, such as ulcers in the stomach or intestines. Omeprazole blocks the production of gastric acid by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of parietal cells in the stomach (acid pumps).
