Chlorodiisopropyl(phenethyl)silane is an organic solvent that is used as a binding agent in electroluminescent devices. The protrusion of the surface of the electrode can be coated with this compound to prevent the emission of light. It has been shown to be a good surface active agent for fluorine-containing compounds, such as fluoroalkyl and fluorinated esters. The chemical structure contains a hydrocarbon group, which is a lyophilic group and has been shown to be capable of ejecting from surfaces under certain conditions. Chlorodiisopropyl(phenethyl)silane emits light when functionalized and reacts with other substances, such as phenylethynyl chloride, to produce light.
