Product Information
Itk is a protein that is involved in the immune system and is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily. It has been shown to have immunomodulatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit epidermal growth factor-induced signaling pathways and cell proliferation. The Itk active rat has been found to have an increased susceptibility to radiation-induced skin injury, as well as an increased susceptibility to chemical carcinogen-induced skin cancer. Sorafenib has been shown to inhibit Itk expression in vivo, leading to decreased tumor size and prolonged survival in mice with melanoma.
