Product Information

Name:
Methyl 5-fluoro-2-methoxybenzoate
Description:

Methyl 5-fluoro-2-methoxybenzoate is a prokinetic drug that inhibits the dopamine D2 receptor. It is used to treat gastrointestinal motility disorders, such as slow gastric emptying. Methyl 5-fluoro-2-methoxybenzoate has been shown to inhibit apomorphine-induced vomiting in rats, and this effect may be due to its antagonism of dopamine receptors. This drug also has dopaminergic properties, which may account for its ability to increase bromopride levels in the brain and reduce food intake in animals. Methyl 5-fluoro-2-methoxybenzoate also causes a decrease in metoclopramide levels in the stomach and an increase of rat stomach weight, which may be due to increased gastric emptying.
