Product Information

Name:
16α-Hydroxydehydrotrametenolic acid
Controlled Product
Description:

16α-Hydroxydehydrotrametenolic acid (16OHDHA) is a compound found in the traditional Chinese medicine "Poria". It has been shown to inhibit the activation of T cells by inhibiting the production of interleukin-2, which is needed for T cell proliferation. 16OHDHA interacts with pachymic acid, a compound found in lichens, and inhibits its interaction with an enzyme called cytoscape. Cytoscape is involved in regulating the expression of genes that control cellular processes such as apoptosis, DNA repair, and cell cycle progression. The molecular mechanism of this interaction has not yet been elucidated. 16OHDHA also inhibits cancer growth by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting DNA synthesis.
